DESCRIPTION:For nearly 20 years\, Birmingham Sister Cities has facilitated an enriching annual quilt exchange between local quilters and the community in Hitachi\, Japan – one of Birmingham’s first sister cities. Participants showcase traditional techniques and designs incorporating meaningful cultural motifs. These special textile ambassadors serve as symbols of friendship reinforcing the bonds between our two cities. The cherished tradition promotes cultural awareness\, creativity and goodwill between artists and neighbors across the globe. \nThe quilts will be on display at the Hitachi Civic Center from Wednesday\, February 28th until Sunday\, March 3rd\, 2024.
